Wedding Inspiration | Beach Elopement Styled Shoot in Barrier Lake Alberta
You could probably tell how much I love Canada from the last blog post, and we’re continuing that theme right now. Instead of admiring our Olympians, today we’re going to swoon over the natural beauty that is the Canadian Rockies. Way back last year in June, I participated in a styled shoot with several other talented vendors.
Meghan Doering and Hope Helmer planned this elopement styled shoot in the remote location of Barrier Lake. With nothing but an altar for decor, Canada’s natural beauty shines through the sandy beaches, pale blue sky and majestic mountain ranges. Antheia Floral created a beautiful bouquet of white blooms and greenery that perfectly complemented the driftwood lined shore and lush forest. The lace gown by Grace Loves Lace is so delicate and and intricate, yet provides the perfect blank slate for the gorgeous statement ring.
It’s fun looking back on this shoot several months later. This invitation was one of the first ones I designed! Though my style has evolved since then, there are still elements that I love and incorporate in my current works. The ring was my main inspiration for the invitation and wedding vows. Aside from matching the ink colour to the gold of the ring, the deckled edges flecked with gold mirrored the raw edges of the gem on the ring.
Now let’s get to the fun part! Take a look at what was created.
These next few shots are my favourite. I love how the movement that Meghan and Hope were able to capture in the dress, the body, the hair, everything — it all looks so alive.
